Job Description
Join 3M’s Electronics and Semiconductor division as a Senior Quality Engineer specializing in semiconductor and transport materials. This is a visa sponsorship role offering a unique chance to work in a high-tech, cross-functional environment with global teams.
Key aspects of the role:
- Lead customer-specific quality meetings and prioritize corrective actions for global electronics and semiconductor products.
- Provide on-site analysis to quickly address and investigate quality concerns raised by customers.
- Coordinate continuous improvement plans (CIP) by working with internal manufacturing and engineering teams.
- Perform quality investigations using tools like 8D reports, FMEA, and SPC to resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Collaborate with laboratory and manufacturing teams to standardize metrology practices through MSA and correlation studies.
- Support product commercialization by ensuring design meets global quality requirements and standards.
- Track customer metrics and trends to enhance product performance and satisfaction.
- Act as a global team player, facilitating communication across functions like engineering, sales, and marketing.
- Participate in global quality initiatives to share best practices and promote innovation.
- Maintain and expand a worldwide network of resources to enhance problem-solving and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Interaction & Rapid Response: Provide timely assistance to customers facing quality issues, ensuring clarity and quick mitigation strategies to maintain trust and satisfaction.
- On-Site Issue Investigation: Conduct thorough on-site inspections, understand customer complaints, and initiate investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- E2E Quality Management: Oversee end-to-end processes to manage customer expectations, ensuring quality compliance through strategic planning and execution.
- Complaint Resolution: Lead and coordinate 8D investigations, FMEA, and SPC-driven problem-solving approaches to deliver structured solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and prioritize improvements to manufacturing and product engineering processes, driving efficiency and quality enhancements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with laboratory, production, and engineering teams globally to ensure product uniformity and adherence to quality standards.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze customer quality metrics, trends, and feedback to inform process optimizations and risk mitigation efforts.
- Global Networking & Team Support: Build relationships across functions to support knowledge sharing, best practices, and project success on a global scale.
Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a STEM field from an accredited university.
- Experience: At least 2 years in manufacturing, product, or quality engineering, preferably in electronics, semiconductor, or related high-tech industries.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with quality methodologies like FMEA, SPC, and metrology techniques including MSA and correlation studies.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP for troubleshooting and process optimization.
- Language Skills: Native-level proficiency in Japanese, capable of cross-cultural communication and documentation.
- Industry Exposure: Experience with micro-replication, sintering, CVD coating, and CMP technology is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Quality certifications like CQE, CQA, CSQP, or ISO 9001:2015 compliance are preferred.
- Team & Communication: Demonstrated ability to collaborate across global teams, resolve conflicts, and influence decision-making effectively.
